Labor Adopts Federal Osha Regulations

June 21, 1999
No. 99-43

In accordance with 8 AAC 61.1010, The Alaska Department of Labor has adopted by reference the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) revision to the General Industry Standard for Dipping and Coating Operations (Dip Tanks), Final Rule.

OSHA is amending the standards on dipping and coating operations located in 29 CFR 1910.6 - 1910.126.  These standards are designed to protect employees from fire, explosion, and other hazards associated with these operations.  The revisions will substantially enhance the interpretation for employers, employees, and others who use them.  The standards are in question-and-answer format, are shorter and performance-oriented, and update the technical reference to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standard 34-1995.  These standards can be found in Federal Register Vol. 64, No. 55, and become effective in the state on June 21, 1999.
