The Alaska Job Center Network Assists with Mass Recruitment for New Security Screener Jobs in 19 Airports

The U.S. Government Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is working with the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development to recruit interested and qualified applicants statewide as Security Screeners. TSA is currently accepting initial applications for three levels of screeners at nineteen airports throughout Alaska.

"Through our 23 Alaska Job Centers around the state or through accessing the Alaska Job Bank on the Internet, interested applicants can find information about this initial application process for these professional airport screener jobs," said Labor Commissioner Ed Flanagan.

The positions are part of the federal government's providing maximum public security to air travelers and airports with more stringent screening guidelines and practices.

The positions are for three levels: Transportation Security Screener (TSS), Lead Transportation Security Screener (LTSS), and Supervisory Transportation Security Screener (STSS) with salary ranges from $23,600 up to $56,400 plus cost of living allowances. All three positions require that an applicant be a U.S. citizen. The minimum qualifications for TSS and LTSS are to have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent, OR have at least one year of full-time security, aviation screener, or x-ray technician work experience. The supervisory level (STSS) requires additional specialized experience in identifying dangerous or deadly objects in baggage, cargo or on passengers.

Interested applicants may go online to read position descriptions and online application instructions. Applicants must apply for each position and location separately. Once minimum qualifications are met through the online application, eligible applicants will be invited to a testing facility and required to pass additional tests, interviews and other evaluations demonstrating they have the necessary skills.
