Alaska Job Centers available to connect Alaskans with employment
June 29, 2020
JUNEAU, Alaska – Job seekers and employers in The Last Frontier have access to a variety of employment services through Alaska’s Job Center Network.
Alaska Job Centers have long been community and regional focal points for connecting employers and jobseekers, assisting individuals with barriers to employment and connecting Alaskans to a variety of both federal and state funded employment and training programs to help them achieve self-sufficiency.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the job centers have temporarily adjusted how they connect with customers and deliver services.
“Alaska is the largest state, geographically, in the country. As such, our job centers have experience in distance delivery, using telephone, email, video chat and Internet resources to connect with customers. This approach was expanded in March to ensure the availability of all staff-assisted services to Alaskan job seekers and employers,” said Commissioner Tamika Ledbetter.
As Alaska continues to reopen, job opportunities are becoming increasingly available. AlaskaJobs – the department’s portal for many of its employment and training services – is available 24/7 at jobs.alaska.gov to view job openings, post resumes and access additional services. Job seekers and employers can also contact their nearest Alaska Job Center by dialing (877) 724-2539. Callers are routed to their nearest job center based upon their calling prefix and assisted by a local employment services technician.
