Office of Citizenship Assistance
The Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development has re-established the Office of Citizenship Assistance within the office of the commissioner to support Alaska's refugees and legal immigrants. The office is led by Deputy Commissioner Nelson San Juan, who brings decades of experience from within the Department to lead this effort.
Alaska statute (AS 23.05.125) defines the mission for this office, which supports legal aliens and refugees in Alaska with information about employment and training opportunities. This office also provides advice to the Commissioner regarding ways to improve employment opportunities and the prevention of discrimination for legal aliens and refugees in Alaska. This Office will also be the cooperating with other federal and state agencies to accomplish this mission.
